Job summary

Campbelltown City Council is seeking a Development Engineer to join the Development Engineering Team in the Planning and Environment Division. You will appraise road and drainage plans, provide engineering advice, and ensure compliance with Council requirements for subdivisions and developments.

Reporting to the Coordinator Development Engineering, the role offers challenging work shaping Campbelltown’s future and requires a civil or surveying engineering degree with 2+ years’ experience, White

• Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or surveying engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years proven experience in civil or environmental engineering with road and drainage design.
• Experience with WSUD, DRAINS and MUSIC modelling.
• Knowledge of Local Government practices and recent legislative changes.
• Current White Card and a valid Class C driver's licence.

About the role:

The Development Engineering Team within the Planning and Environment Division plays a key role supporting and facilitating development across the local government area through the timely and efficient provision of expert engineering advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on the engineering aspects of proposed subdivisions and developments.

Reporting to the Coordinator Development Engineering, this an exciting and challenging role that will shape the future of Campbelltown.

We are currently seeking an experienced Development Engineer responsible for:

• Appraise subdivisional road and drainage plans and development engineering design plans and ensure that they comply with best engineering design and construction principles, and Council requirements.
• Inspect and make recommendations to supervisor regarding the approval of all subdivisional road drainage and development engineering construction work to ensure that it complies with good engineering design practice and Council’s requirements.
• Assess and provide engineering advice and conditions for standard Development Applications.
• Assess and provide clearance for the release of small-scale Subdivision Certificates for engineering matters.
• Assess and determine Section 68 applications

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

• Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or surveying engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years proven, demonstrated experience in civil or environmental engineering, with experience in road and drainage design and construction, WSUD, DRAINS and MUSIC modelling and sound knowledge of Local Government practices, and recent legislative changes.
• Ability to provide and evaluate engineering solutions to a variety of matters in complicated situations by critical examination, analysis, investigation or by adaptive thinking.
• Ability to produce workable and effective solutions for urban engineering road and drainage designs or construction problems in a changing environment.
• General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card) and current class C driver’s licence
