Job description

The complexity and scale of applications and projects managed will be commensurate with the role level, with the Senior position undertaking larger and more complex assessments and providing a greater level of technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Working within the City Planning department, the Subdivision & Development Engineer / Senior Subdivision & Development Engineer is responsible for the civil engineering assessment of Development Applications, approval of engineering construction design plans, construction compliance inspections, and the eventual acceptance of completed roads, drainage and recreation assets on behalf of Council.
• The role offers a balance of office-based technical assessment and onsite construction inspections.
• As a valued member of the team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality development outcomes and infrastructure for the community.
• At the Senior level, you will also provide leadership through mentoring and supporting team members, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and championing Council's Guiding Principles to deliver exceptional outcomes for the community.

What you need

• To be successful in this role, you will hold a Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline or possess equivalent experience supported by relevant education and training.
• You will have contemporary, expert knowledge and extensive practical experience across all aspects of subdivision construction and development engineering, along with experience in the assessment of complex Development Applications.
• You will demonstrate exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to adapt your communication style to a range of audiences.
