Job description

Development Assessment Engineering Officer | Sydney | Contract (6-month initial)

We are seeking an experienced Engineer who is familiar with assessing development applications to join the Development Assessments Team as a Development Assessment Engineering Officer.

In this role you will review and assess development applications for council, providing administrative support and technical expertise relating to drainage and flooding, helping to shape the build environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess development application referrals relating to drainage and flooding
  • Provide administrative support to the Drainage Development Assessment team
  • Liaise with internal and external customers regarding development applications
  • Monitor, record and action all incoming development application referrals
  • Complete assigned Technology 1 and CM9 tasks to a high standard and within required timeframes
  • Manage correspondence and documentation within service level frameworks
  • Maintain record management in accordance with Council's procedures
  • Contribute to Council's engineering specifications and processes relating to development assessment
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proven experience assessing development applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve conflict and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and collaborative teamwork
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated skills in corporate systems including Technology 1, CM9 and GIS
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail and the ability to manage a high workload with minimal supervision
