Job summary

Public Sector People are partnering with a Regional Council to appoint an experienced Development Compliance Officer to join the Regulatory Services Team on a temporary full-time 12-month contract.

You will conduct inspections, investigations and enforcement actions, manage permits, engage stakeholders, and contribute to high-standard regulatory service delivery from Beaudesert.

Qualifications

• Experience in compliance, enforcement, regulatory investigations or related local government environment.
• Sound knowledge of local laws, planning schemes and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and clear communication of technical information.

Responsibilities

• Undertake inspections, investigations and complaint management relating to planning, local laws and state legislation.
• Prepare investigation reports, notices and recommendations for enforcement actions.
• Manage enforcement processes, including court matters when required.
• Assess and process permits and approvals under guidance.
• Liaise with stakeholders to provide advice and updates on compliance matters.
• Maintain accurate records in line with policies and requirements.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will work closely with Council officers, government agencies, industry representatives and members of the community to ensure compliance with relevant legislation while delivering a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake inspections, investigations and complaint management relating to Council's planning scheme, local laws and relevant State legislation.
• Prepare investigation reports, evidence briefs, notices and recommendations regarding enforcement actions.
• Initiate and manage enforcement processes, including preparing matters for court proceedings and attending court when required.
• Assess and process permits and approvals under the guidance of the Team Leader Development Compliance.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide advice and updates on compliance matters.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with Council policies and legislative requirements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Experience in compliance, enforcement, regulatory investigations, or a related local government environment.
• Sound knowledge of local laws, planning schemes, development legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
• A Certificate qualification in local government compliance or relevant compliance/enforcement experience. A tertiary qualification in land use planning will be highly regarded.
• A current C Class Driver Licence.
