Job summary

HumanKapital is recruiting for a Draftsperson to join our Newcastle-based team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will develop residential project drawings from customer briefs to working drawings, using ArchiCAD.

The role requires 3-5 years of drafting experience, a relevant Architecture/Building Design degree, and the ability to apply NSW DCP and CDC standards. Join a collaborative small team focused on quality and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in ArchiCAD is essential.
• Relevant degree in Architecture, Building Design, or related discipline.

About The Role

This role is based on-site in Newcastle, NSW. Working as part of a small team, you will be responsible for developing residential projects from customer briefs and initial sales sketches through to detailed working drawings.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Interpreting customer briefs and sales sketches accurately to ensure customer satisfaction
• Producing full sets of working drawings at various stages of the process using ArchiCAD
• Ensuring drawings comply with relevant Council Development Control Plans (DCPs) and the NSW Complying Development Code (CDC)
• Following established company processes and systems
• Working efficiently within a small team to maintain quality standards, achieve targets, and meet project timelines

About You

• Proficiency in ArchiCAD is essential
• Relevant degree in Architecture, Building Design, or a related discipline
• 3-5 years' experience working as a Draftsperson, or reasonable experience in a Design role
• The ability to interpret and apply Development Control Plans and the NSW Complying Development Code
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• The ability to interpret drawings conceptually and translate briefs into practical designs
• Strong problem-solving skills
• A willingness to contribute to a small team and support others
