Job summary

NgayukCollege in Kalkallo, VIC, is seeking a Design Technology Assistant to support the delivery of Design and Technology classes, prepare materials, maintain a safe workshop and manage stock. Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, on-site at Kalkallo.

The successful candidate will work with teachers to implement safety procedures, assist with setup and project demonstrations, and help create an engaging, risk-managed learning environment for students in Years 7–12.

Qualifications

• SC1 Demonstrated ability to coordinate and support others within established guidelines.
• SC2 Demonstrated capacity to work and collaborate with others in a team environment.
• SC3 Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in a team environment, including high level oral and written communication.
• SC4 Possess the technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position.
• SC5 Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and support to management and other school staff in respect to the work area.
• SC6 Demonstrated capacity to contribute to the establishment and ongoing operation of a safe, organised and high-quality Design Technology learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for Design and Technology classes and practical activities.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and storage areas.
• Conduct routine safety checks and report damaged or unsafe equipment.
• Support teachers and students during practical lessons, demonstrations and projects.
• Maintain stock levels, order supplies and keep accurate inventory records.
• Assist with the maintenance, servicing and safe storage of tools, machinery and equipment.
• Ensure safety procedures, risk assessments and PPE requirements are followed.
• Assist with setup and pack-up of displays, exhibitions and projects.
