Job summary

Glue Executive in Sydney is seeking a Design Manager to lead design management for education projects, with a strong focus on coordinating between design, consultants and construction teams.

You will work closely with project, construction and pre-construction teams to drive design through pre-construction and delivery, review documentation for buildability and compliance, and manage consultant deliverables and design programmes in a D&C environment.

Design Manager – Education Projects Sydney | Established Builder | Strong Education Pipeline

An established Sydney construction business is looking to appoint a Design Manager to join its team.
The business has a strong pipeline of education projects and delivers a significant amount of work under D&C arrangements, with involvement from early design and pre-construction through to project delivery.
They are looking for someone who can take ownership of design management and strengthen the coordination between design, consultants and construction teams.
The Role Working closely with project, construction and pre-construction teams, you will take ownership of the design process across education projects.

Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating design across school and education projects
• Working closely with architects, consultants and subcontractors
• Driving design through pre-construction and delivery
• Reviewing documentation for buildability, compliance and coordination
• Managing consultant deliverables and design programmes
• Resolving design issues before they impact construction
• Supporting D&C tenders and early contractor involvement
• Acting as the key link between consultants and the construction team

Your Background

Previous school or education project experience is essential.

You will ideally be either:

• An experienced Design Manager with an architectural background, or
• A Senior Architect with substantial education project experience who is interested in moving across to the builder side

You will need:

• Architectural qualification or
• Proven experience leading and delivering school or education projects
• Strong consultant coordination experience
• Extensive design development and construction documentation project stage experience
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience in D&C environments would be highly regarded
