Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is seeking a Design Manager in Sydney to lead design delivery for major projects from inception to completion. You will liaise with clients, the design team and consultants, coordinating documentation and ensuring timely services applications.

Responsibilities include running design meetings, managing consultants, and supporting construction with design queries, while maintaining strong client relationships across $100M+ projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or similar.
• Minimum 3+ years' experience in a Design Management role.
• Experience with ECI and tender phases, plus construction & delivery.
• Strong focus on value engineering and buildability.
• Experience in managing time, cost and scope for projects.

Job description

Design Manager required for a nationally recognized top tier commercial builder, based from their office in Sydney. They operate across Data Centres, Commercial, Education, and Health with projects up to $500m.

As the Design Manager you will be responsible for managing the delivery of construction projects from inception to completion. You will be involved from the front end, liaising with the client, the design team and all relevant stakeholders - through to the delivery of the project.

As the Design Manager you will be responsible for:

• Selection and engagement of consultants to produce construction documentation.
• Manage consultants and coordinate the documentation process with consultants.
• Run design meetings and follow up issues raised by consultants.
• Ensure services applications are lodged by consultants.
• Hand over documentation to the construction team and assist them during construction on design queries.
• Manage client during the design and construction process.

To be considered for the position of Design Manager you will require:

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or similar.
• Minimum 3+ years' experience in a Design Management role.
• Experience within the ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) and tender phase as well as the construction & delivery phase is essential.
• Be very strong with value engineering & buildability.
• Project Management experience demonstrating time, cost and scope understanding.
• Demonstrated experience in functional briefs, consultant scopes and engagements.
• Experience over various building types in excess of $100M in value.
