PCL Constructors Pacific Rim PTY Ltd. in Sydney, New South Wales is offering a Design Engineering Student role in our Solar Australia district.

You will gain hands-on experience coordinating design and procurement, reviewing technical documents, and supporting project success through PM4+ and dashboards. The position emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders, learning through mentorship, and pathways to full-time roles.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage project design and procurement processes, including detailed meeting minutes and follow-up on open items.
• Review RFP documentation, drawings/diagrams, commissioning plan and electrical studies for key design requirements.
• Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders using PM4+.
• Ensure project compliance and quality through site O&Ms and warranty item tracking.
• Convert Excel inspection test plans into PM4+ ITP templates.
• Develop and maintain Power BI Synoptics design dashboards for projects.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with stakeholders.

Here’s how a Design Engineering Student for our Design team at our North Sydney office contributes to our team:

• Assistingwith coordinating and managing the project design and procurement process which includes taking detailed meeting minutes and following up on open items.
• Assisting with review of RFP documentation, drawings/diagrams, Commissioning plan and electrical studies for key design requirements.
• Facilitatingcommunication and collaboration between all project stakeholders by utilizing PM4+ to send RFIs and submittals.
• Ensuringproject compliance and quality through site O&Ms and warranty item tracking
• Streamliningproject processes by converting excel inspection test plans into PM4+ ITP templates.
• Supportingproject success by developing and maintaining Power BI Synoptics design dashboards for projects.
• Communicatingwith internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Developing and maintaining strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a solar design function.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in various computer software programs, including AutoCad, word processing, and spreadsheet applications (Excel).
• Familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
