Job summary

PCL Constructors Pacific Rim PTY Ltd. in Sydney, New South Wales, is seeking an Estimating Student for our Solar Australia district in North Sydney. You will learn estimating manuals, assist with quantity surveys, and gain hands-on experience on real projects, under guidance from senior estimators.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Understanding and utilizing PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Construction Risk Manager.
• Performing assigned quantity survey
• Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator
• Bid document control
• Performing bid day assignments
• Visiting job sites periodically
• Developing relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned by the Construction Risk Manager
