PCL Constructors Pacific Rim PTY Ltd. in Sydney, NSW, invites applications for an Estimating Student in our Solar Australia district. You will gain hands-on experience, learn estimating processes and contribute to bid preparation, while developing relationships with subcontractors on real projects.

Qualifications

• Strong desire to work in a construction environment.
• Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets and drafting tools.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply PCL estimating manuals, systems and forms.
• Review quantity survey assignments with lead estimator or Construction Risk Manager.
• Perform assigned quantity survey tasks and prepare quantities for pricing.
• Transfer quantities to lead estimator and assist with bid document control.
• Attend bid days, visit job sites periodically and develop subcontractor relationships.

Here’s how an Estimating Student for our Solar Australia office in North Sydney contributes to our team:

• Understanding and utilizing PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Construction Risk Manager.
• Performing assigned quantity survey
• Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator
• Bid document control
• Performing bid day assignments
• Visiting job sites periodically
• Developing relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned by theConstruction Risk Manager

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
