Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead commissioning of Western Australia’s Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant. You will verify installation quality, conduct tests, troubleshoot mechanical equipment and support handover from construction to operations, coordinating with vendors, contractors and operations teams.

You will contribute to safety, environmental compliance, and QA while driving commissioning activities toward a smooth transition to steady-state operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar required.
• Experience commissioning mechanical systems on water, desalination or process plants highly regarded.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and equipment specifications.
• Experience in mechanical completion, performance testing and punch list management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures and schedules for mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with construction, operations and vendor teams to ensure readiness for commissioning.
• Conduct pre-commissioning checks, mechanical completion verification and punch list clearance.
• Perform functional and performance tests on mechanical equipment to confirm design compliance.
• Monitor system parameters during start-up and adjust as required.
• Document test results and prepare commissioning reports.
