Job summary

The Department of Corrections Northern Territory is seeking a Deputy Superintendent, Security and Intelligence to relocate to Darwin and lead security and intelligence across NT Corrections. You will support governance, drive improvements and provide strategic leadership on risks and trends.

You will coordinate initiatives, engage with stakeholders, and travel across the Territory to ensure consistent operations and contemporary practices in correctional services.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience within custodial or similarly complex operational environments.
• Proven capability leading organisational change and implementing policies, procedures and operational improvements.
• Experience managing projects, people, resources and prioritising operational workloads.
• Strong knowledge of correctional operations, sentence management and services for people in custody.
• Understanding of the criminal justice system and contemporary correctional practice.
• High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

The Northern Territory Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team as Deputy Superintendent, Security and Intelligence in Darwin. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving operational consistency, strengthening governance and supporting continuous improvement across Northern Territory correctional centres.

About the Role

You will support the General Manager, Territory Wide Operations in leading security and intelligence functions across NT Corrections, providing strategic oversight, strengthening operational capability and supporting correctional centres to deliver contemporary, effective and consistent practices across the Territory.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading territory-wide initiatives that strengthen correctional security, intelligence and operational governance.
• Supporting correctional centres to implement consistent system-wide operational practices and frameworks across the Northern Territory.
• Coordinating reviews and assessments relating to security, intelligence, incidents and operational performance.
• Building productive relationships with correctional agencies and stakeholders across Australia to identify emerging trends, risks and best practice.
• Supporting innovation, change management and service enhancement initiatives that strengthen governance and reduce organisational risk.
• Providing strategic advice and leadership on emerging operational risks, trends and best-practice approaches across NT Corrections.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

• Significant leadership experience within a custodial or similarly complex operational environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading organisational change and implementing policies, procedures and operational improvements.
• Proven capability managing projects, people, resources and operational priorities.
• Strong knowledge of correctional operations, sentence management, programs and services for people in custody.
• A thorough understanding of the criminal justice system and contemporary correctional practice.
• High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across service streams and jurisdictions.
• A Diploma of Correctional Administration, Advanced Diploma, or other equivalent relevant qualification.
• The ability to travel to correctional centres and regional locations across the Northern Territory as required.
