Job summary

Career Crossroads International is seeking a Depot Manager for its Coffs Harbour operation. You will lead a busy depot with transport, linehaul changeovers, cross-docking and temperature-controlled warehousing.

You will be visible on the floor, drive safety, service reliability and customer satisfaction while managing a commercial P&L. Based in Coffs Harbour, relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Requires proven operational leadership experience within transport and warehousing, including seasonal volumes and perishable goods.
• Demonstrated ability to manage linehaul, cross-dock, and temperature-controlled warehousing.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety across the depot, including Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management.
• Coordinate linehaul movements, driver changeovers, local pickups and deliveries, cross-dock activities.
• Manage seasonal volumes, temperature control, product integrity and HACCP standards.
• Build and maintain customer relationships, manage expectations and resolve service issues.
• Own the depot P&L, including labour and operating costs, productivity and reporting.
• Coach supervisors and frontline teams to drive accountability and standards.
• Collaborate with the wider transport network to improve planning and service reliability.

You’ve built your experience leading transport and warehouse operations. You understand the pressures of perishable freight, keeping drivers moving and delivering on customer commitments. Now you’re ready to take responsibility for an entire depot.

Our client, an established transport and logistics business, is seeking a Depot Manager for its Coffs Harbour operation. This opportunity will suit an experienced Operations Manager, Transport Manager or similar leader ready to step up, as well as an established Depot Manager.

The opportunity

Reporting into the broader operational leadership team, you will lead a busy depot combining transport, linehaul changeovers, cross-docking and temperature-controlled warehousing.

Your priorities will be to keep people safe, deliver reliable customer service and manage a commercially sound operation. You’ll need to be visible on the floor, confident with customers and comfortable making decisions in a fast-moving, seasonal environment.

What you’ll be responsible for

Leading safety across the depot, including Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and safe working practices.

Coordinating linehaul movements, driver changeovers, local pick-up and delivery, and cross-dock activities.

Managing seasonal volumes and perishable freight, maintaining temperature control, product integrity and food safety standards.

Building strong customer relationships, managing expectations and resolving service issues.

Taking ownership of the depot P&L, including labour, operating costs, productivity and performance reporting.

Coaching supervisors and frontline teams to build clear accountability and consistent standards.

Working with the wider transport network to improve planning, communication and service reliability.

What you’ll bring

You don’t need to have held the Depot Manager title, but you do need relevant operational leadership experience and a track record of taking ownership.

Experience leading transport and warehousing operations involving seasonal volumes and perishable or temperature-controlled goods.

Practical knowledge of linehaul operations and driver changeovers.

Strong safety leadership and an understanding of transport compliance.

Confidence dealing directly with customers, particularly when priorities change or service issues arise.

Previous responsibility for running a P&L, with the ability to explain your results and the actions you took to improve them.

Experience maintaining cold-chain, quality and HACCP standards.

A practical leadership style, sound judgement and the ability to bring people with you.
