Job summary

Collins Street Specialist Periodontal Team is seeking an experienced and professional Receptionist/Dental Assistant to join our busy periodontal practice on Collins Street. This role blends reception and clinical assisting to support the Principal Periodontist and our OHTs.

The position is initially casual with up to four days per week, with potential to transition to permanent part-time. Praktika dental software experience is preferred, with training provided.

Qualifications

• At least two years' experience in dental assisting or dental reception.
• Certificate III in Dental Assisting.
• Confidence working in a busy front desk environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and team members.
• Ability to multitask, prioritise competing demands and work efficiently under pressure.
• A positive, flexible attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A genuine commitment to patient care, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist patients in a warm and professional manner.
• Managing appointments, recalls, and daily schedules with accuracy and efficiency.
• Coordinating bookings across multiple clinicians.
• Respond to telephone and email enquiries promptly and professionally.
• Processing payments and health fund claims.
• Prepare patient reports and manage electronic records, including uploading documents into Praktika.
• Maintain an organised, efficient, and welcoming reception area.
• Assist the Periodontist and Oral Health Therapist during clinical procedures, including chair-side support and instrument sterilisation.
• Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, instruments, and clinical equipment in accordance with infection prevention and control procedures.
