Job summary

St Ives Dental Group is seeking a friendly Dental Assistant to join our team on a casual basis in our Sydney area practice.

You will work closely with dentists and the team across general dental procedures, supporting patient care, instrument preparation and room maintenance while developing your clinical skills in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Dental Assistant is essential.
  • A Cert III or IV in Dental Assisting is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: greet and prepare patients, help with procedures, and ensure comfort.
  • Clinical Support: sterilise instruments, assist during examinations and procedures, keep the area clean.
  • Inventory Management: monitor supplies and keep treatment rooms well stocked.
  • Patient Education: provide post-operative care instructions and oral hygiene advice.
  • Team Collaboration: work with dentists, hygienists and staff to maintain smooth workflow.
  • Compliance: follow safety, hygiene and regulatory protocols in the practice.

About The Position

St Ives Dental Group is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Dental Assistant to join our team on a casual basis.

We’re a welcoming, supportive team in a modern general dentistry practice, committed to providing great patient care and creating a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll work closely with our dentists and wider team across a variety of general dental procedures. No two days are exactly the same, so it’s a great opportunity to keep building your skills, broaden your dental knowledge and be part of a team that genuinely enjoys working together.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Assist with patient management, including greeting patients, preparing them for procedures, and ensuring their comfort.
  • Clinical Support: Prepare and sterilise dental instruments, assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, and maintain a clean and organised treatment area.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor dental supplies levels, ensuring the treatment room is well‑stocked and organised.
  • Patient Education: Provide patients with post‑operative care instructions and educate them about oral hygiene and preventive care.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and other staff to ensure a smooth workflow and positive patient experience.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, as well as regulatory requirements in the dental practice.
