Job summary

Aventrix Pty Ltd is seeking a Defence Systems Engineer in Canberra to support defence capability programs within CASG / SPO. You will translate operational needs into formal requirements, manage baselines, and contribute to design reviews and verification activities.

The role requires 8+ years in complex ICT/communications systems, a relevant engineering degree, and a current defence clearance. DOORS and VCRM experience are highly valued for contractor delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of systems engineering on complex ICT, communications, C2 or platform systems.
• Degree in systems, electrical, communications or related engineering.
• Chartered (Engineers Australia or equivalent) or a clear path to it.
• Defence / CASG project experience.
• ASDEFCON and One Defence Capability System (ODCS) highly regarded.
• Strong written English and stakeholder skills.
• Australian Citizens with a current Defence security clearance.
• Well regarded: Control systems or platform integration.
• Well regarded: VCRM, test planning and technical certification.
• Well regarded: ITAR / export-control awareness.
• Also useful for some roles RF, SATCOM and networks experience.

Systems engineering contracts available across Defence capability programs in Canberra. Work sits inside CASG / SPO teams and covers requirements, design review, integration, V&V and contractor deliverable assurance.

Contract rate $130–$145 per hour + GST. 8-hour day. ABN contractors. Rate depending on skills and start date.
