Job summary

Morson Edge Australia is seeking a Defence Security & Compliance Officer to lead personnel security clearances, DISP administration and Defence obligations across a growing construction business involved in Defence projects.

You will work autonomously, developing internal security policies and engaging with stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance and success in Defence tenders and projects across NSW.

Qualifications

• Experience in Defence security, personnel vetting, security compliance or DISP administration.
• Understanding of Australian Government security clearance processes (Baseline, NV1).
• Familiarity with DISP requirements and Defence security obligations.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to handle sensitive information.
• Confident working independently and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain security clearance.
• Experience in Defence construction/engineering/infrastructure or with a Defence supplier is valued.

Defence Security & Compliance Officer | DISPSydney or South Coast NSW $100,000–$130,000 + Super

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Defence Security & Compliance professional to play a key role in supporting a growing construction business as it expands its involvement in the Defence sector. With an increasing focus on Defence-related opportunities, the business is looking for someone who can take ownership of personnel security clearances, support Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) requirements and ensure the organisation is well-positioned to meet the security and compliance expectations of Defence projects. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working autonomously, building processes and working closely with stakeholders to make a tangible impact on the business.

The Role

You will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the company's Defence security and compliance requirements, ensuring personnel, systems and processes align with relevant Defence obligations. Key responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating personnel security clearances, including Baseline and NV1 requirements.
• Supporting the administration and ongoing compliance requirements of DISP.
• Maintaining accurate security registers, clearance records and supporting documentation.
• Developing and improving internal security policies, procedures and processes.
• Liaising with internal stakeholders and relevant external authorities regarding security requirements.
• Supporting the business with security and compliance requirements associated with Defence tenders and projects.
• Identifying compliance gaps and implementing practical improvements to maintain Defence security standards.

About You

We're looking for someone who understands the Defence security environment and can confidently manage security compliance requirements within a commercial business. Ideally, you will bring:

• Previous experience in Defence security, personnel vetting, security compliance or DISP administration.
• A sound understanding of Australian Government security clearance processes, including Baseline and NV1.
• Familiarity with DISP requirements and Defence security obligations.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information.
• Confidence working independently and engaging with stakeholders across different levels of a business.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
• Experience within Defence construction, engineering, infrastructure or a Defence industry supplier would be highly regarded.
