Job summary

Laing O’Rourke is seeking a Construction Director to join the AUKUS team in Australia. You will contribute to safety targets, support the Project Director, and develop procurement strategies to meet project drivers. Lead cost planning and oversee design alignment with the budget.

This pivotal role supports Australia’s largest defence infrastructure program, working on the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard project in Osborne, SA. You will drive excellence in delivery and safety.

Qualifications

Degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or Construction Management or equivalent.
Strong understanding of design, problem-solving capabilities, commercial acumen.
Ability to communicate on all levels – directors to operatives.
Lead by example in health and safety and attitude.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the achievement of safety targets and zero tolerance of unsafe practices.
Provide support to the Project Director to manage client expectations and budget.
Develop an overall design procurement strategy to ensure consultants understand project drivers.
Oversee cost planning to align the design with the project budget.
