Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a Defect Identification Officer to inspect roads, footpaths, car parks and other civil assets, identifying defects and recording repairs to extend asset life and safety. This field-based role supports the Civil Works & Presentation team and involves both independent work and teamwork.

Qualifications

• You are a safety-focused and detail-oriented professional with experience in civil infrastructure maintenance and construction.
• You have strong observational skills, a customer-focused approach, the ability to work independently, and confidence using technology in the field to accurately identify and record infrastructure defects.
• In this role you will conduct scheduled inspections of Council's roads, car parks, commercial areas and other civil infrastructure assets, identifying and accurately recording defects and required repairs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled inspections across Council's extensive civil infrastructure network.
• Identify defects, assess repair requirements and record maintenance needs.
• Raise repair requests and provide information to support maintenance planning and asset management programs.
