Job summary

The Ward Clerk role at The Mater hospital, part of St Vincent’s Health Australia, is a full-time, permanent position in the Day Surgery Centre within Patient Services. You will assist in admissions, manage patient records and liaise with patients, staff and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

Strong communication, attention to detail and teamwork are essential. Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook is expected; previous hospital experience is desirable.

• Completion of a medical terminology course (desirable).

As a key point of contact for patients, staff, and other stakeholders across the hospital, the role requires strong communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, and accurate management of patient records.The Day Surgery Ward Clerk helps to ensure a smooth and efficient admission process for patients. Working in a fast-paced environment, this role requires the ability to manage competing priorities, use initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team. Good organisational and time management skills are essential, along with a commitment to providing a positive experience for patients and their families.As part of the Patient Services team, the Day Surgery Ward Clerk will be required in other areas of the hospital as needed.
