Job summary

FBT Transwest in Melbourne is seeking an organised Transport Operations Clerk to support our busy container movements. This permanent day-shift role offers a later start and an early finish, making it ideal for someone who prefers to begin their day later.

You will coordinate bookings, dispatch, driver allocations and transport documentation to keep movements on track. Working closely with drivers, customers, terminals, depots and service providers, you will maintain accurate system records,

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transport operations or container logistics.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage priorities.
• Clear communication with drivers and customers.
• Attention to detail and data accuracy in records.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily import, export, delivery, collection and empty-container movements.
• Assist with allocating work to drivers and vehicles based on bookings, time slots and equipment availability.
• Liaise with drivers, customers, ports, depots, container parks and service providers.
• Enter and maintain accurate job, booking, container and delivery information in Translogix.
• Prepare consignment notes, run sheets, dispatch paperwork and other transport documentation.
• Monitor delivery status, container availability, de-hire dates and detention or demurrage risks.
• Track driver progress, communicate delays and elevate operational or compliance issues promptly.
• Support accurate reporting, proof-of-delivery processing and shift handovers.
• Work in accordance with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, mass management, safety and company requirements.
• Contribute ideas that improve workflow, turnaround times, service delivery and operational efficiency.
