Job summary

Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority is seeking an experienced Data Services Manager to lead the Data Services team and manage the organisation's data environment to support evidence-based decisions for environmental management and service delivery.

You will collaborate with the Technology and Digital Services team, contractors and stakeholders to govern data, deliver trusted datasets, and improve data assets across programs.

• Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, standards and operating models, improving processes and sharing knowledge to strengthen service delivery and compliance.
• Maintain the integrity, currency and usability of authoritative datasets and outputs so they remain fit for purpose.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Services Manager to lead and manage our Data Services team and be responsible for maintaining the organisation's data environment. Using your experience in technical leadership, data management, and stakeholder engagement, you will deliver high quality data driven outcomes for internal and external stakeholders, managing a range of products, datasets, systems and associated tools. The Data Services Manager will support the organisation through the management, accessibility and governance of business data, enabling better insights and supporting evidence based decision making for activities such as service delivery, environmental management, and operational planning. You will be a team player, working closely and collaboratively with the broader Technology and Digital Services team, technical specialist partner organisations, and a diverse network of stakeholders across the Reef Authority.

What you'll do

• Lead and mentor the Data Services team to deliver outcomes aligned with the Reef Authority’s objectives.

What you’ll bring

• A relevant tertiary qualification in data governance, data management or Information Technology Project Management, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing data projects, with a record of achieving outcomes and a commitment to client service.
• Demonstrated leadership and experience working in and contributing to high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills applied to complex subjects, including critically assessing information and contributing to innovative solutions.
