Job summary

Talent Insights Group is seeking a Delivery Lead to orchestrate data science, AI and analytics initiatives for a large government programme on a 12-month contract with potential extension. You will ensure the right problems are tackled, delivery approaches fit the work, and the portfolio keeps moving.

• Facilitating delivery across multiple data science, AI, ML and analytics initiatives from early scoping through to proof of concept, pilot and handover
• Partnering with Lead Data Scientists and AI Engineering leads, without stepping on their technical turf
• Running discovery with Business Analysts and stakeholders so the actual business problem is clear before anyone touches a dataset
• Facilitating sprints, showcases, retros and backlog refinement, and knowing when to flex the process for research heavy work
• Writing scoping documents, business cases and governance papers for senior executives
• Keeping risks, dependencies, decisions and status visible across the whole portfolio

Job description

This is a long-term 12 month contract (with potential to extend for 12 months) for a delivery lead who's spent years turning good data science and AI ideas into things that actually make an impact.

A large government agency has built a data science, machine learning, AI and advanced analytics work across the organisation, and they need someone to make sure it all comes together. Not the person doing the modelling. The person who makes sure the right problems get picked up, the delivery approach actually fits the work, and the whole portfolio keeps moving.

You'll work across several squads at once, sitting alongside Lead Data Scientists, business managers and AI Engineering leads. They own the technical calls, the model design, the analytical rigour. Your job is to frame the work properly, keep dependencies and risks visible, run the ceremonies that are worth running, and clear the path so the technical teams can focus on the right problems.

What the role covers:

Who we're after:

Someone who has already led delivery on complex data, analytics or AI work, ideally with time in a top consulting firm or a tech company where delivery standards are high. Government experience is a bonus, not a requirement. What matters more is that you can hold your own next to technical leads without trying to do their job, you're comfortable with ambiguity, and you can turn a messy problem into a clear, fundable piece of work.

You'll need:

• Minimum of 5 years professional track record facilitating delivery of complex data, analytics, ML or AI technology initiatives inside a large organisation
• Experience working alongside technical leads, data scientists, AI engineers and business analysts in Agile, cross-functional teams
• A solid grasp of agile and hybrid delivery in a big, imperfect environment, including running sprint ceremonies, planning, showcases and retros
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including writing for senior executives
• The ability to juggle competing priorities and risks across several concurrent initiatives
• Australian citizenship (mandatory for this role due to potential security clearance requirements)

Location & Hybrid Work:

Sydney or Melbourne and working 3 days in office, 2 days WFH
