Job summary

NSW Department of Customer Service, on behalf of NSW Fair Trading, is seeking a Project Officer - Data Readiness in Parramatta. This temporary full-time role supports licences data migration as part of Licence NSW transition.

You will analyse legacy data, map to the new model, and lead cleansing efforts to ensure accuracy ahead of go-live. The role focuses on data readiness, quality, and stakeholder communication in a government setting.

Qualifications

• Experience analysing, profiling or mapping data between systems.
• Methodical approach to solving problems, reconciling data and root-cause analysis.
• Project coordination: planning, tracking, risks and deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in testing or UAT, including test cases and defects.
• Understanding data quality impacts customers and frontline staff.
• Ability to guide others and learn new tools.
• Experience in data analysis, migration and quality in projects.
• Experience with data mapping, reconciliation and validation.
• Advanced Excel skills for large datasets.
• Experience with licensing, regulatory or case management systems.
• Experience in government or regulatory environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyse legacy licensing data to understand structure and quality.
• Map source data to the new platform data model and confirm transformation rules.
• Profile data quality, identify gaps, duplicates and inconsistencies and advise cleansing.
• Plan, prioritise and track data cleansing activities and guide team members.
• Support data migrations, reconcile counts between systems.
• Test and validate migrated data for completeness and accuracy; log defects.
• Test platform functions using migrated records (applications, renewals).
• Support go-live and post go-live activities during migration.
• Maintain data readiness plans, risk/issue logs, and status reports.
• Work with stakeholders to explain data decisions clearly.
