Job summary

The Reef Authority is seeking a Data Platform Manager to lead the Decision Support Systems team in Canberra. You will manage data platform workspaces, governance, and data pipelines to support decision tools and analytics across the organisation.

Strong SQL and Python skills, experience with Databricks, and familiarity with Azure data products will help you deliver reliable data platforms, governance, cost awareness and an aligned platform roadmap.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in use and/or management of data platforms (e.g. Databricks) and data governance.
• Working proficiency in SQL and Python.

Responsibilities

• Manage data platform workspaces, access controls, compute cluster configurations, and relevant policies across environments.
• Design, build, and operationalise data models, pipelines, stores, and real-time processing systems.
• Implement and maintain robust data governance frameworks and ensure compliance with privacy policies.
• Monitor platform utilisation, performance, and cost-optimisations.
• Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to align platform roadmap with available resources.
• Build relationships and mentor staff within the team.
• Resolve problems using professional knowledge and analyse alternatives.
