Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice is seeking an Analyst for a 12-month temporary role in Sydney. The position involves data development, analysis, interpretation, and reporting to support service delivery and reforms, with a focus on national indicators and stakeholder briefing.

Applicants should have a tertiary qualification in a social science field with data analysis, strong data analysis and reporting skills, and the ability to present insights to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a social science or similar field that includes data analysis and statistics.
• Well-developed skills in analysis and reporting of corporate data.
• Experience drawing insights from data and presenting results to audiences.

Responsibilities

• Undertake extraction, analysis, interpretation, and reporting on data from external and internal data sets to inform service delivery planning and resource allocation, measurement of client outcomes, organisational performance reporting and the progress of reforms.
• Undertake data extraction and analysis to inform service delivery practice and facilitate continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the design, development and implementation of performance measures, tools and governance processes to improve business systems/ processes and workflows and enhance organisational capability.
• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of core internal and external data sets to meet the analysis and reporting needs of the organisation.
• Participate in proactive initiatives that identify issues with quality and consistency of data collected and held by DCJ and its partner agencies to reduce potential limitations and ensure the usability of the data for analysis and reporting.
• Provide technical support, tools, advice and skills development to district and program management staff to improve organisational capability in analysing and understanding data.
• Provide proactive and evidence-based advice to the Manager and Director to ensure that business unit matters which impact current business and future decision-making are fully considered.
