Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice is offering a temporary 12-month role focusing on data development, analysis, interpretation and reporting to support service delivery objectives in line with NSW Government reforms. You will progress national indicators comparing performance across Australian jurisdictions and briefing executives on national reporting issues.

The role includes updating dashboards and reports on DCJ performance for internal and external stakeholders, with the opportunity

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in a social science or similar field that includes data analysis and statistics.
• Well-developed skills in analysis and reporting of corporate data.
• Demonstrated experience in drawing insights through data and data analysis and presenting results tailored to the targeted audience.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people within the organisation.
• A current Working with Children Check, in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
• National Criminal History Record Check, in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.
• Knowledge of data presentation tools such as Tableau will be an advantage.
• A detailed knowledge of statistical methods and programming languages is not required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake data development, analysis, interpretation and reporting to inform service delivery planning and reform.
• Progress national indicators that compare performance across Australian jurisdictions.
• Provide briefing to executives and stakeholders on national reporting and jurisdictional performance.
• Update reports and dashboards that present data on DCJ performance for internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical support and skills development to staff to improve data analysis capabilities.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining core data sets to meet analysis and reporting needs.
