Job summary

At IAG, we’re building data-driven decision-making for a leading Australian and New Zealand general insurer. Join as a Data Engineer to design, build, and optimise scalable data solutions using GCP and dbt, enabling smarter business decisions.

You’ll collaborate with the Data Product team to translate requirements into robust pipelines, data models, and automation, while applying Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices to ensure high-quality, secure data.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years in data engineering or analytics engineering with software development background.
• Intermediate skills in SQL, Python, and DBT. Experience with BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform is essential.
• Demonstrated experience with AI-driven data testing, optimisation, and governance tools.
• Well-versed in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, including CI/CD and version control systems like Git.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Monitor data pipelines and data products to ensure accurate, timely, and accessible data for business users.
• Optimise data models and pipeline orchestration for efficiency and reliability.
• Investigate data quality issues, identify root causes, implement sustainable fixes.
• Manage releases and deployments across higher environments with change governance.
• Communicate release activities and risks clearly to stakeholders; coordinate follow-up actions.
• Create and maintain technical and operational documentation for knowledge sharing and BAU support.
