Job summary

G8 Education Ltd on the Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure powering data-driven decision making across the organisation.

In this hands-on role you will collaborate with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to transform raw data into meaningful insights, optimise performance and continuously improve data platforms.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Proficiency in Python or SQL.
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI is desirable.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
• Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines feeding our Fabric Lakehouse.
• Build and optimise data models to support analytics and business reporting.
• Integrate data from multiple sources and formats, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across pipelines and systems.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, backups, upgrades and ongoing maintenance processes.
• Partner with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions.
• Develop and maintain Power BI reporting solutions to support business insights.
• Document engineering processes, standards and best practices.
• Provide guidance and support to team members where required.
• Stay current with emerging tools and technologies, contributing ideas to improve platforms and ways of working.
