Job summary

Smartgroup is seeking a Data Automation Engineer to design, build and maintain automated data solutions that support business operations and enable data-driven decisions. You will deliver scalable pipelines and ensure accuracy, reliability and governance across data platforms.

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, develop ETL/ELT workflows, and optimize data processes while adopting CI/CD and source control practices. This role emphasizes cloud familiarity and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2-4+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Data Automation or a related field.
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience working with large and complex data transformations.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience with GitHub, source control and exposure to CI/CD practices.
• Exposure to Azure or cloud-based data platforms will be highly regarded
