Job summary

NOW Energy is seeking experienced Data Centre Cablers and Patch Lead Technicians for a major Sydney project in Artarmon. You will perform fibre and copper patching, patch panel installations and manage cabling within racks to a high standard.

This is not entry level; we require hands-on Data Centre experience, ability to follow patch schedules, and a commitment to workplace QA. Typical hours are Monday to Friday, starting as soon as possible.

Qualifications

• Prior Data Centre experience essential.
• Hands-on fibre and copper patching experience.
• Experience with patch panels and patch leads.
• Strong cable routing, dressing and labelling skills.
• Able to follow patch and port schedules accurately.
• White Card and Police Check (within 12 months).

Responsibilities

• Perform fibre and copper patching and patch panel works.
• Install and connect patch leads between panels and equipment.
• Work from patch and port schedules and cabling documentation.
• Route and dress patch leads within racks with care.
• Maintain correct bend radius and cable management.
• Label fibre and copper cables accurately.
• Assist with testing and QA checks per Data Centre standards.
• Maintain high standard of housekeeping in Data Centre.

Data Centre Cablers & Patch Lead Technicians | Fibre & Copper | ACMA Open Cabling Registration

ASAP Start | Previous Data Centre Experience Essential

NOW Energy is seeking experienced Data Centre Cablers and Patch Lead Technicians to join an established team working on a major Data Centre project in Artarmon, Sydney.

We are specifically looking for people with hands‑on fibre AND copper patching experience, including working with patch panels, patch leads, port/patch schedules, cable routing, labelling and cable management within a Data Centre environment.

This is not an entry‑level role. Previous hands‑on Data Centre experience is mandatory.

• Location: Artarmon, Sydney
• Start: ASAP – anticipated 21st September
• Duration: Project requirements are currently ongoing and reviewed as works progress
• Hours: Monday to Friday
• Start Time: 7:00am
• 8–10 hour days
• Rate: $50.00 per hour flat rate
• Tools supplied by the client

About the Role

You will be working within an experienced Data Centre team carrying out fibre and copper patching and structured cabling works.

We are particularly interested in technicians who can confidently work from patch/port schedules and complete patching within racks accurately and neatly.

Duties may include:

• Fibre and copper patching
• Installing and connecting patch leads between patch panels and equipment
• Working from patch schedules, port schedules and cabling documentation
• Fibre and copper patch panel works
• Routing and dressing patch leads within racks
• Cable management and maintaining correct bend radius
• Fibre and copper cable labelling
• Installation of fibre patch panels, MPO/LC cassettes and adapter plates
• Running and dressing fibre optic cabling
• Panduit structured cabling systems
• Fibre terminations where appropriately registered/qualified
• Rack preparation and structured cabling installation
• QA checks and ensuring patching is completed to the required port/location
• Maintaining the high standard of housekeeping and attention to detail required within a Data Centre

Essential Requirements

• Previous Data Centre experience
• Hands‑on fibre AND copper patching experience
• Experience with patch panels and patch leads
• Strong cable routing, dressing, labelling and cable management skills
• Ability to accurately follow patch/port schedules
• White Card
• Current Police Check – within the last 12 months
• Full PPE
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within strict Data Centre QA requirements

ACMA Cabling Registration

ACMA Open Cabling Registration is highly regarded but is not mandatory for every member of the crew.

Candidates carrying out cabling work that requires the appropriate registration, including relevant termination work, will need to hold the required cabling registration.

We will also consider experienced Data Centre Patch Lead Technicians without ACMA registration where they can demonstrate strong hands‑on fibre and copper patching experience.
