Job summary

Protech is looking for data technicians and optic splicers with fibre and copper experience for data centres in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Casual roles starting ASAP, day shifts Monday to Friday.

These roles offer $50–$55 per hour plus super, penalties and travel allowances. ACMA Open Cabling Registration, White Card and a valid driver’s licence are essential, along with strong communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Experience in Communications, Electrical, Data Cabling, or similar technical environments is essential for the role.
• Install and support communications infrastructure in data centres.
• Read and interpret project drawings and documentation.
• Fibre and copper cable installations and terminations.
• Work collaboratively with project teams.
• Follow all site safety procedures and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Experience in Communications, Electrical, Data Cabling, or similar technical environments is essential for the role
• Install and support communications infrastructure in data centres
• Read and interpret project drawings and documentation
• Fibre and copper cable installations and terminations
• Work collaboratively with project teams
• Follow all site safety procedures and industry standards

You will have:

• Strong understanding of data cabling standards and industry practices
• White Card (essential)
• Current Driver’s Licence
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
