Job summary

Equinix Australia is seeking an entry-level Operations Engineer to support critical infrastructure in a global data center environment. You will receive full training, onboarding, and hands-on exposure to network devices, software updates, and remote support across diverse shifts.

Working with a collaborative team, you’ll develop practical skills in fiber optics, equipment upgrades, and incident response while progressing along a defined career path in the Customer Operations Engineering family.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical aptitude and onboarding ability.
• Willingness to participate in shift roster and team collaboration.
• Completion of IT or Telco related certification preferred.
• Hands-on understanding of fiber optics preferred.
• Customer service experience is advantageous.
• Ability to obtain NV1 Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure network devices and related equipment.
• Apply software updates and security patches to customer equipment.
• Perform fiber patching and cross-connects (UTP, fiber).
• Provide remote technical support via phone, email, and web tools.
• Monitor network activity and report uptime issues.
• Upgrade and maintain network hardware (servers, switches, etc.).
• Document network inventories and troubleshooting steps.
• Maintain logs and produce reports for management.
