Job summary

STACK Infrastructure APAC is seeking an Electrical Systems Specialist – Field Engineering to ensure safety, reliability, and performance of mission-critical electrical infrastructure in live data centres. You will own UPS systems, battery infrastructure, and critical power distribution while supporting HV/LV systems and generators.

You will lead fault investigations, advise on switching procedures, and uplift site technical capability across operations, engineering, and risk teams.

Qualifications

• Trade, diploma, or degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive experience with mission-critical electrical systems (data centres, utilities, hospitals, industrial facilities, or similar).
• Strong hands-on switching and fault-finding capability.
• Experience with protection coordination and discrimination studies.
• Proven experience authoring and reviewing switching procedures.
• Strong understanding of redundancy philosophies (N, N+1, 2N, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical specialist for UPS systems, batteries, HV/LV distribution, transformers, switchboards, generators, and associated controls.
• Maintain knowledge of system design, operating modes, protection settings, redundancy, and recovery strategies.
• Monitor UPS loading, battery condition, autonomy, alarms, and equipment performance.
• Identify capacity, reliability, lifecycle, and single-point-of-failure risks.
• Ensure electrical systems operate within safety, protection, and reliability limits.
• Provide hands-on technical support during UPS faults, outages, protection trips, alarms, and abnormal conditions.
• Lead fault isolation, diagnosis, and restoration planning.
• Analyze UPS event logs, relay records, alarms, and power-monitoring data.
• Support switching, UPS bypass operations, load transfers, energisation, commissioning, and post-incident recovery.
• Provide clear technical direction to operations teams, contractors, and equipment vendors.
• Author, review, and approve electrical switching procedures, EOPs, MOPs, and SOPs, as well as isolation/energisation plans and risk assessments.
• Ensure procedures align with system configuration, protection coordination, discrimination, arc-flash requirements, and equipment limitations.
• Improve procedures based on incidents, operational feedback, and lessons learned.
• Lead or support electrical incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
• Provide technical input into maintenance, asset replacement, capacity planning, and system upgrades.
• Review commissioning plans and witness UPS, battery, generator, and integrated systems testing.
• Coach site teams on UPS operation, electrical switching, fault response, and safe systems of work.
