Job summary

Job description

Build the trusted data foundations that will power TMBL’s future analytics, AI and personalisation strategy.

As Data Architect, you’ll shape enterprise data architecture across business initiatives, data-platform delivery and governed AI use cases. You’ll define the models, patterns and controls that make data secure, reusable and fit for purpose, while helping teams turn target-state architecture into practical delivery decisions.

You’ll contribute to TMBL’s significant, funded, multi-year technology transformation, with cloud data platforms and future AI capability among its approved modernisation themes.

Why this role matters

Trusted data is fundamental to better analytics and responsible AI. In this role, you’ll help ensure TMBL’s data and AI solutions use authoritative, governed information, with security, privacy, quality, lineage and access requirements considered from the outset.

You’ll influence how TMBL evolves its cloud data architecture while establishing reusable patterns for data products, semantic models, integration, knowledge repositories and AI-enabled solutions.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll:

• Define target-state data architecture, roadmaps, standards and reusable patterns
• Design conceptual, logical and physical models alongside API, event, streaming and batch integration patterns
• Shape architecture for cloud data platforms, warehouses, lakehouses, data products and semantic layers
• Define governed RAG and knowledge architecture patterns, including grounding, indexing, provenance and access controls
• Embed data governance, privacy, cyber security, retention and regulatory requirements into architecture
• Provide architecture guidance across data engineering, AI, technology, governance and delivery teams

What you’ll bring

• Strong experience across data architecture, solution architecture, data engineering, analytics architecture or enterprise integration
• Experience designing enterprise data models, data flows and integration patterns
• Experience with cloud data platforms, warehouses or lakehouses, together with metadata, lineage, data quality and governance
• Practical understanding of applying security, privacy, retention and access controls to data architecture
• The ability to translate business strategy and requirements into clear architecture decisions
• Experience creating architecture standards, decision records and assurance artefacts

Nice to have

• Experience within financial services or another regulated environment
• Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK, TOGAF or comparable frameworks
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or comparable cloud data ecosystems
• Experience designing data foundations for generative AI, RAG, vector search or agentic solutions
• Familiarity with AI governance and model-risk considerations
