Job summary

The Cabinet Office in Sydney is seeking a Data Analyst to turn data into insights that inform government policy and programs across NSW. About the Role

Do you enjoy uncovering insights, solving complex problems and using data to make a real difference?

We're looking for a Data Analyst to join the Women NSW Evidence and Evaluation team within the Justice and Security Policy Branch. In this role, you'll work on high-profile projects and government priorities, using data and evidence to inform policy, programs and strategic decision-making across NSW.

You'll analyse data from a range of sources, identify trends and emerging issues, and provide clear, evidence-based advice to senior stakeholders. Working closely with colleagues and partner agencies, you'll help translate complex information into practical insights that drive better outcomes for communities across the state.

We're Looking For

• Data Analysis and Insights: Experience analysing complex datasets, identify trends and emerging issues, and provide clear, evidence-based advice to senior stakeholders.
• Technical Capability: Demonstrated experience using data analytics and visualisation tools such as R, Python, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SPSS, SAS or similar platforms to support analysis, reporting and decision-making.
• Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Strong analytical judgement, with the ability to interpret information, work through ambiguity and develop practical, evidence-informed solutions.
• Communication: Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly and effectively through reports, briefings and presentations tailored to diverse audiences.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build productive working relationships and collaborate with colleagues, partner agencies and stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
• Project Management and Planning: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate project activities and deliver quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
