Job summary

Trade, Employment and Training – Brisbane QLD is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Data Operations and Analytics team. The role involves end-to-end data collection, data management and data analysis using a modern cloud data stack to support evidence-based decisions for vocational education and training.

You will translate stakeholder needs into high-quality reporting products, review analytic outputs, and help inform policy and program delivery across the department.

Are you a motivated, resilient, and committed data professional with end-to-end experience in data collection, data management, and data analysis using a modern cloud data stack?

Are you passionate about helping Queenslanders from all backgrounds improve their lives through vocational education and training?

As a senior member of the Data Operations and Analytics team within Data & Analytics, you will support the strategic direction of DTET and help inform decisions and actions associated with the training of Queenslanders now and into the future.

As the Data Analyst, you will

• Create analytic outputs using contemporary information management and business intelligence methods to support evidence-based decision making and the delivery of employment, trade and vocational education and training (VET) services and projects.
• Review and quality assure data analysis outputs and models to present departmental data and statistics in a clear, accessible and user-friendly way for internal and external clients and customers.
• Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and turn them into high quality, contemporary reporting products and update reporting methods and systems to meet performance measurement requirements and provide accurate, reliable information to decision-makers, managers and planners across the department and at State and Commonwealth government levels.

What we are looking for

The position requires an applicant who has:

• Ability to review and quality assure analytic outputs, using a structured and methodical approach, including experience in collecting, analysing, integrating, and modelling complex data from a range of sources to generate meaningful insights.
• Experience in developing data solutions and tailoring reporting products to meet the needs of different audiences and business requirements, particularly in performance monitoring and reporting functions.
• Initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and recommend innovative analytic approaches that support stakeholder needs and inform decision making, while ensuring outputs are accurate and timely.
