CyberCX is seeking a Principal Consultant to join the Canberra Cloud Security & Solutions leadership team. The role focuses on leading complex cloud security engagements, shaping strategy, and delivering high-impact outcomes in high-trust environments.

You will develop people, mentor consultants, and collaborate with senior stakeholders across government and enterprise to drive practice growth and client value.

Qualifications

  • IRAP Assessor status is required.
  • Strong knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM).
  • Security certifications such as CISM, CISA, CISSP or ISO LA/LI are preferred.
  • 7+ years delivering security strategies, policies and frameworks.
  • Direct experience with cloud technologies and cloud security practices.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching and mentoring teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities; agile under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cloud security consulting engagements in line with scope and CyberCX standards.
  • Manage large, complex projects including planning, governance, risk and quality assurance.
  • Build trusted client relationships and deliver high-quality, value-add outcomes.
  • Prepare and present clear deliverables for technical and executive audiences.
  • Support development and implementation of practice strategy.
  • Establish and maintain governance, reporting and performance metrics.
  • Identify and lead process improvements across the practice.
  • Mentor consultants, lead training and capability development.
  • Refine services and approaches with industry trends and threats.
  • Collaborate across CyberCX to deliver a seamless client experience.

What you'll do

As part of the Cloud Security & Solutions leadership team, you'll help shape and execute the sub-practice strategy in line with market trends and business priorities.

You will:
  • lead cloud security consulting engagements in line with scope, CyberCX standards and relevant frameworks
  • manage large, complex projects, including planning, governance, stakeholder management, risk and quality assurance
  • build trusted client relationships and deliver high-quality, value-add outcomes
  • prepare and present clear, high-quality deliverables for technical and executive audiences
  • support the development and implementation of practice strategy
  • establish and maintain governance, reporting and performance mechanisms
  • identify and lead process improvement initiatives across the practice
  • mentor consultants, lead training and support capability development
  • refine services, methodologies and approaches in line with industry trends and emerging threats
  • contribute to research, innovation and internal capability-building initiatives
  • work across CyberCX to deliver a seamless client experience
  • demonstrate CyberCX values in how you lead, deliver and collaborate
What we're looking for
You will bring:
  • current IRAP Assessor status
  • extensive knowledge of, and demonstrated experience applying, the Information Security Manual (ISM)
  • ideally, at least one recognised security certification such as CISM, CISA, CISSP or ISO LA/LI
  • 7+ years' experience developing and/or delivering security strategies, policies and frameworks across organisations of varying complexity and maturity
  • direct experience with cloud technologies and platforms, along with strong knowledge of cloud security principles and practices
  • proven experience leading, managing, coaching and mentoring teams
  • strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • the ability to respond to setbacks with agility and resilience
  • a proactive, organised and detail-oriented approach
