Qualifications

• Licensed Customs Broker is essential.
• Experience in import/export customs clearance operations.
• Strong knowledge of Australian customs legislation, tariff classification and valuation.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across customs, freight forwarding and transport teams.
• Experience with CargoWise and Australian Customs ICSS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lodging import/export declarations and managing entries from start to finish.
• Tariff classification, valuation and application of Australian customs laws.
• Compile, review and interpret shipping and customs documentation.
• Provide advisory services on duties, concessions and duty drawback.
• Liaise with clients, internal teams and government agencies.
• Manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

As a Customs Broker at Gibson Freight, you will be responsible for managing customs clearances end‑to‑end while ensuring the highest standards of compliance, accuracy, and customer service. You will work closely with clients, internal operational teams, and government authorities to deliver seamless import and export outcomes.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a newly licensed Customs Broker or an experienced operator looking to further develop their skills.

You will work alongside two highly regarded and experienced Customs Brokers, providing an excellent opportunity to learn from people with extensive practical knowledge of the industry. You'll be supported as you develop your technical knowledge, gain exposure to a broad range of customs matters, and build the confidence to manage your own clearances.

Key Responsibilities

• Lodging import and export declarations and managing customs entries from start to finish

• Accurate tariff classification, valuation, and application of relevant Australian customs legislation

• Compiling, reviewing, and interpreting shipping and customs documentation

• Providing value‑added advisory services, including duty minimisation strategies, tariff concessions, and duty drawback advice

• Liaising with clients, internal freight and transport teams, and government agencies

• Managing multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment

Skills & Experience

• Licensed Customs Broker (essential)

• Experience in import/export customs clearance operations

• Strong knowledge of Australian customs legislation, tariff classification, and valuation

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively across customs, freight forwarding, and transport teams

• Experience with CargoWise and Australian Customs ICSS (preferred)
