About the role

We are seeking a Customer Service & Sewing Assistant to join our team at our Burleigh Heads location on a part-time basis. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who combines excellent customer service skills with a passion for sewing and textile work. In this role, you will be the face of our business, welcoming customers, managing enquiries, and assisting with sewing and alterations projects. You will play a key part in delivering the exceptional experience that our customers expect from Seaside Seamstress.

What you'll be doing

• Greeting customers warmly and professionally, taking orders for alterations and sewing projects with attention to detail
• Providing expert advice to customers on garment care, alterations possibilities, and sewing solutions
• Assisting with basic sewing tasks, including repairs, hemming, and simple alterations under guidance
• Accurately recording customer requirements, measurements, and delivery dates to ensure projects are completed on time
• Processing payments and managing the till with accuracy and integrity
• Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming shop environment
• Following up with customers regarding project completion and delivery
• Supporting the senior seamstress team and contributing to the smooth running of daily operations
• Handling customer enquiries and resolving any issues with professionalism and care

What we’re looking for

• Proven customer service experience, ideally in a retail or service-based environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to listen to customer needs and provide helpful solutions
• A genuine interest in sewing, textiles, or alterations work, with eagerness to learn and develop technical skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy when recording customer information and managing orders
• Basic sewing knowledge or experience is advantageous, including familiarity with hand‑sewing and/or machine‑sewing techniques
• Ability to work flexibly as part of a small team and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Proficiency with point‑of‑sale systems and basic computer skills
• A positive, friendly attitude and genuine passion for customer satisfaction
• Reliability and punctuality in a part‑time working arrangement
