NEXTDC in Darwin is seeking an experienced Security Team Leader to oversee security operations at our Darwin Data Centre. You will manage day-to-day security operations, lead a frontline security team, and act as the primary escalation point for incidents and operational issues, ensuring a safe, compliant, and professional environment for customers and staff.

  • Proven experience in a team leadership role within security, facilities, or operations.
  • Understanding of incident management and physical security controls.
  • Experience contributing to security operations within critical infrastructure, or similar regulated environments.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a focus on accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Ability to lead a customer-focused security function, maintaining high service standards.
  • Strong communication skills and sound decision-making ability under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily security operations, ensuring consistency, compliance, and professionalism across all shifts
  • Provide first-line leadership including performance management and team development
  • Act as the primary escalation point for incidents, service requests, and operational issues
  • Manage and maintain staff rosters in conjunction with contract security guard provider, including leave planning and short-notice coverage
  • Ensure security coverage and operational resilience across the site
  • Uphold front-of-house presentation standards, delivering a professional and customer-focused security service
  • Oversee incident management processes, ensuring timely resolution and accurate reporting
  • Maintain strong administrative and audit standards, including record keeping and compliance documentation
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement in security processes, systems, and service delivery

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Security Team Leader to oversee security operations at our Darwin Data Centre.

In this critical leadership role, you will manage day-to-day security operations, lead a high-performing frontline security team, and ensure a safe, compliant, and professional environment. You will also act as the primary escalation point for incidents and operational issues, maintaining high service standards and supporting customer-facing operations.

About You

You are a confident and composed security professional with strong leadership capability and operational awareness. You thrive in critical infrastructure environments, can manage competing priorities, and understand the importance of customer experience within a secure facility.

We welcome applicants from non-traditional security backgrounds, i.e. facilities, operations, aviation, logistics, customer operations, control room, hospitality leadership, emergency response coordination, or other high-accountability environments.
