Job summary

Cura Day Hospitals Group is seeking an experienced CSSD Coordinator to join Brisbane Day Surgery on a permanent full-time basis. The role focuses on reprocessing and sterilisation of instruments in line with Australian Standards, with leadership of CSSD operations and staff.

You will coordinate workflow, oversee decontamination, packaging, and storage of reusable devices, and ensure accurate instrument tracking and documentation while supporting accreditation and patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) within a hospital or day surgery.
• Thorough knowledge of AS 5369:2023 Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices.
• Experience coordinating CSSD operations and supervising staff.
• Ability to oversee decontamination, inspection, packaging and storage of reusable devices.
• Experience with steam sterilisation monitoring and indicators.
• Understanding instrument tracking systems and CSSD documentation.
• Experience with surgical instrument procurement and inventory management.
• Ability to manage equipment maintenance, validation and QA.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with theatre and clinical staff.
• Open Driver’s Licence and right to work in Australia.

Brisbane Day Surgery was established in 1997 as a dedicated ophthalmic day surgery hospital. Since that time, Brisbane Day Surgery has grown, moved location and developed into Australia’s largest day surgery hospital. Brisbane Day Surgery is the hospital of choice for leading professionals in health care.

We are seeking an experienced CSSD Coordinator to join us on a permanent full-time basis.

The key responsibilities of this role include reprocessing and sterilisation of instruments and equipment according to hospital and Australian Standards.

To be successful in your application for this position, you will have:

Demonstrated experience in a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) within a hospital or day surgery environment.

Thorough knowledge of AS 5369:2023 Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices and Infection Prevention and Control principles.

Previous experience coordinating or leading CSSD operations, including workflow management and staff supervision.

Proven ability to oversee decontamination, inspection, packaging, sterilisation and storage of reusable medical devices.

Experience with steam sterilisation processes and monitoring, including biological, chemical and physical indicators.

Sound understanding of instrument tracking systems and CSSD documentation requirements.

Experience with surgical instrument procurement and inventory management.

Demonstrated ability to manage equipment maintenance, validation and quality assurance activities.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a busy environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with theatre, clinical and support staff.

Commitment to maintaining accreditation standards, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

High level of computer literacy, including experience with electronic tracking and reporting systems.

Ability to lead, mentor and support CSSD staff to achieve best practice outcomes.
