Job summary

Downer in Somerton VIC is seeking Team Members - Microsurfacing to join our Pavement Preservation crew. This hands-on role supports microsurfacing and road preservation works across Victoria, with rostered shifts and travel away from home.

You'll work as part of a high-performing team, operate and assist with specialised equipment, uphold safety standards, and contribute to long-term road maintenance projects within a supportive, safety-focused culture.

Work with a high-performing crew delivering critical road surfacing works across Victoria, based out of Somerton

We are currently seeking Team Members - Microsurfacing to join our Pavement Preservation crew based in Somerton VIC. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a team environment, and is looking to build a long-term career in road maintenance and surfacing.

About the Role:

You will support the delivery of microsurfacing and road preservation works across Victoria and interstate, including:

• General labouring across road maintenance and surfacing works
• Operating and driving heavy vehicles
• Assisting with microsurfacing operations and specialised equipment
• Supporting basic maintenance and repairs of plant and equipment in the field
• Working collaboratively with crew members to deliver high-quality outcomes
• Working away from home as part of a rostered crew

What You'll Bring:

• HC driver licence highly regarded; however, candidates with a strong willingness to learn and develop are encouraged to apply
• Ability to pass a commercial driver medical
• Experience operating trucks, machinery, agricultural equipment, or similar plant is highly regarded
• Practical mechanical aptitude and confidence working with tools and equipment
• Experience in road surfacing, civil construction, transport, agriculture, or related industries is desirable
• A strong work ethic and willingness to work away from home
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality outcomes

Working Conditions:

• EBA-based role with an annualised salary structure
• Rostered work cycles of up to 19 days on, including weekend work
• Weekend work accrued as time off within rostered breaks
• Regular travel required, with work primarily conducted away from the home depot
• Crews regularly work across regional Victoria and interstate locations
