Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Regional Manager to lead asphalt, spray seal and civil operations across Southern & Central West NSW and ACT, based out of Hume, ACT. You will drive growth, oversee safety and performance, and develop high-performing teams across regional depots.

• Extensive leadership experience in civil construction, road infrastructure, asphalt or spray seal.

• Lead and develop multiple operational teams across Southern & Central West NSW and ACT.
• Drive profitable growth through project acquisition, tendering and business development activities.
• Foster and maintain relationships with Local Government Authorities and key stakeholders.
• Maximise operational performance through efficient labour, plant and materials utilization.
• Oversee forecasting, budgeting and financial performance across the region.
• Build and manage a robust supply chain with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide leadership and development to create a high-performing workforce.

Downer is seeking an experienced Regional Manager - Southern & Central West NSW & ACT to lead our asphalt, spray seal and civil operations across the region including our depots at Hume, Bathurst, Forbes and Mogo.

Based out of Hume, ACT, this is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for business growth, operational performance, client engagement and the development of high-performing teams across the region. This role offers the opportunity to influence business performance, strengthen key client partnerships and develop a sustainable and scalable operational footprint across Southern & Central West NSW and the ACT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and develop multiple operational teams across Southern & Central West NSW and the ACT.
• Drive profitable growth through targeted project acquisition, tendering and business development activities.
• Foster and maintain strong relationships with Local Government Authorities and key industry stakeholders.
• Maximise operational performance through effective utilisation of labour, plant and materials.
• Oversee forecasting, budgeting, cost control and financial performance across the region.
• Build and manage a robust supply chain, including supplier and subcontractor relationships.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality and service delivery.
• Provide strong leadership, coaching and development to create an engaged, high-performing workforce.
• Champion a strong safety-first culture and embed Downer's Zero Harm principles across all operations.

ABOUT YOU

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
• Extensive leadership experience within civil construction, road infrastructure, asphalt, spray seal or related industries.
• Ideally 10+ years' experience in a similar senior operational leadership role.
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale operations, projects or business units.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse financial performance and drive profitable outcomes.
• Proven experience developing strategic client relationships and securing new business opportunities.
• Outstanding leadership capability with a track record of building engaged and high-performing teams.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
• A strong commitment to safety, environmental performance and operational excellence.
