people2people in Sydney is seeking an early-career Credit Controller to join a growing finance team. This role covers end-to-end AR and credit, offering exposure to collections, customer account management, and credit assessments.
You will report to a Finance Manager and gain experience across dispute resolution and cash-flow support while building a long-term career in credit and finance.
Credit & Collections Officer | End-to-End AR & Credit | Career Development Opportunity
If you've built a solid foundation in Accounts Receivable, Collections or Credit over the past 1-2 years and are ready to broaden your experience, this is the type of opportunity that doesn't come along often.
Many junior finance roles can become quite siloed, with responsibilities focused purely on collections or transactional AR. On the other hand, many Credit Controller positions require extensive experience managing large, complex ledgers.
This role sits nicely in the middle.
You’ll gain exposure to the full Accounts Receivable and Credit function, giving you the opportunity to develop skills across collections, customer account management, credit assessments, dispute resolution and credit risk, while still receiving support from an experienced Finance Manager.
For someone looking to build a long-term career in Credit, this is an ideal next step.
Managing your own portfolio of customer accounts, you'll play an important part in maintaining cash flow, minimising credit risk and supporting positive customer relationships.
Responsibilities include:
Managing collections and aged debt across a portfolio of customer accounts
Reviewing customer credit applications and supporting credit approval processes
Monitoring customer credit limits and assisting with credit risk management
Following up outstanding invoices and negotiating payment outcomes
Investigating and resolving billing and account disputes
Working closely with operational teams to remove barriers to payment
Processing account holds, releases and customer account updates
Maintaining accurate collection records and account information
Supporting broader Accounts Receivable and Credit activities as required
This is a genuine end-to-end role where you'll see the full customer lifecycle rather than just one piece of the process.
We're specifically looking for someone who is early in their Credit or AR career and ready for more responsibility.
You’ll likely have:
Around 1-2 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, Credit Control or a similar finance role
Experience managing customer accounts and following up overdue payments
A solid understanding of the Accounts Receivable process
Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer interactions
Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail
A genuine interest in developing a career within Credit and Finance
You don't need years of Credit Control experience.
What matters most is having a good foundation, a willingness to learn and the desire to expand your skill set beyond a purely collections-focused position.
This opportunity has been created for someone who is ready to take the next step.
Rather than being thrown into a large, high-pressure senior ledger, you'll be given the chance to learn the broader credit function properly while developing valuable commercial experience.
You’ll benefit from:
Exposure to the full Accounts Receivable and Credit lifecycle
A step up from traditional AR or collections roles
Experience across credit assessment, collections and credit risk
Support from an experienced Finance Manager
A collaborative team environment
Long-term career development opportunities within a stable business
If you have 1-2 years of Accounts Receivable, Collections or Credit experience and are looking for a role that offers genuine development rather than simply more volume, we'd love to hear from you.
