Job summary

Steel Builders in Glendenning, NSW is seeking a reliable Crane Operator for the busy steel yard and dispatch area. You will safely operate a 6-direction overhead crane to move, load and unload structural steel and building materials for dispatch.

Successful candidates will receive formal training to operate the crane; prior experience is valued. A current driver’s licence is essential, and a minimum of one year in a similar environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous crane operating experience is desirable.
• Crane licence/ticket is desirable.
• Current Driver’s Licence is essential.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar steel yard, warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Experience handling structural steel or long/heavy materials is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating overhead cranes to move and position structural steel and building materials.
• Loading and unloading trucks using cranes and other yard equipment.
• Preparing and positioning steel orders for dispatch.
• Ensuring materials are handled safely to prevent damage.
• Assisting with general yard and warehouse duties as required.
• Maintaining a clean, compliant and organised worksite.
• Following all safety procedures and site requirements.
• Supporting the wider operations and dispatch team as required.

Work hours: Afternoon shift (commencing for 2:30pm)

About the Role

This is a hands-on role within our busy steel yard and dispatch environment. You’ll be responsible for safely operating our 6-direction overhead crane to move, load and unload structural steel and building materials, ensuring orders are handled efficiently and ready for dispatch.

Successful candidates will undergo formal training to operate the crane; however, previous experience is highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
• Physically fit and comfortable working in a busy yard environment
