Job summary

City of Canning is seeking a Coordinator Fleet Services to lead a team of fleet professionals and oversee workshop operations, maintenance and asset renewal within a multi-million dollar budget.

The role focuses on ensuring reliable, cost-effective fleet services, with emphasis on decarbonisation, EV implementation, and continuous improvement aligned to the City's Net Zero goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ experience managing a workshop servicing a large fleet or managing fleet operations.
• Mechanical trade qualification or significant practical knowledge of light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrated experience in logistics and scheduling maintenance of vehicles, plant, and equipment.
• Current WA Driver’s Licence and National Police Clearance.

• Oversee the mechanical workshop for maintenance, repair and servicing of fleet, plant and equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules and asset utilisation to maximise reliability and value.
• Manage fleet budgets, procurement, inventory and asset renewal activities for continuous improvement and cost savings.
• Deliver the Fleet Renewal Program, including transition to electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
• Ensure fleet operations comply with legislation, safety requirements and industry standards.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders to support service delivery.
• Contribute to Sustainability, Waste and Fleet leadership team and Net Zero objectives.

Job description

The City of Canning is committed to maintaining a safe, reliable and efficient fleet that supports the delivery of essential services across our community.

As the Coordinator Fleet Services, you will lead a team of skilled fleet professionals and oversee all aspects of the City's fleet operations, including workshop management, maintenance scheduling, asset lifecycle planning, procurement, compliance and fleet renewal initiatives.

Reporting to the Service Lead Waste and Fleet, you will play a key role in ensuring our fleet remains operational, cost-effective and future-focused, while contributing to strategic projects such as fleet decarbonisation, electric vehicle implementation and continuous improvement initiatives. Based on the City's Operations Depot, you will be responsible for leading a team of eight employees and managing an operational fleet budget of approximately $6 million.

• Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules and asset utilisation to maximise reliability, efficiency and value.

• Deliver the City's Fleet Renewal Program, including the transition to electric vehicles and supporting charging infrastructure.

About You:

• Mechanical trade qualification or significant practical knowledge of light and heavy road transport vehicles, machinery and mechanics
• Demonstrated experience in logistics and scheduling maintenance of vehicles, plant, and equipment
• Current WA Driver’s Licence and National Police Clearance.
