Job summary

Council is seeking a Coordinated Development Assessment leader to head the Development Assessment Team in Yeppoon, Queensland. You will guide complex planning assessments, align operations with strategic goals, and drive continuous improvement across processes.

You will foster a high-performing, legally robust, community-focused culture, coaching staff and coordinating with broader council teams to ensure policy alignment and timely planning responses.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or related field.
• Proven leadership in a local government or statutory planning environment, including team management.
• Experience in planning enforcement and legal proceedings, including documentation preparation.

As Coordinator Development Assessment, you’ll play a key role in guiding complex planning assessments, aligning operations with strategic goals, and driving continuous improvement across systems and processes.

What You’ll Bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field, and/or extensive experience in a similar regulatory or statutory planning role.
• Proven leadership in a local government or statutory planning environment, including team management and handling complex development matters.
• Demonstrated skills in planning enforcement and legal proceedings, including preparation of documentation and engagement with legal professionals.
• A strong understanding of planning legislation and the ability to confidently operate in political, legal, and community-facing contexts.
• Proficiency in council systems and planning-related software.
