Job summary

Camden Council is inviting applications for a Permanent Full Time role in planning and urban design. The successful candidate will manage development assessments, applying planning principles to a diverse range of proposals while working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

You will contribute to growth strategies, demonstrate strong communication with stakeholders, and provide innovative, practical solutions to complex planning challenges.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in town planning or closely related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide innovative and practical solutions to complex issues.
  • Excellent time management, negotiation and dispute resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development assessments in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Assess, process and report on a wide variety of development proposals.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Represent Council in legal cases when required.
  • Present to regional and local planning panels and stakeholders.

SALARY: $119,578 - $136,993 p.a + Super + Leaseback
Work Type: Permanent Full Time

  • Tertiary qualification in town planning or closely related discipline
  • A demonstrated working knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, including extensive experience in assessment, processing and reporting of a wide variety of development proposals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of internal and external customers
  • Ability to provide innovative and practical solutions to resolve complex issues
  • High level time management, communication, negotiation and dispute resolution skills and a demonstrated ability to make decisions
  • Ability to represent Council in legal cases
  • Experience in urban release area / growth area development assessment
  • Experience in presentations to internal and external stakeholders (for example, regional and local planning panels)
